Water Treatment and Filtration

Last Saturday, our systems sales group, lead by Ms Michelle Miraflor, hosted a primer on commercial water treatment technology for our Amici sales force.  As our company specializes in commercial and industrial water heaters and pressure systems, technical knowledge in water treatment, an important part of a complete water systems setup, is beneficial in assisting our clients to find the right solutions for them.

The primer on water treatment started with basic concepts like properties of water and the hydrologic cycle.  Sources of water, in which characteristics and purity of water differ substantially, were then discussed in depth.  The primer went on to qualitative and quantitative identification of water, as well as various ions, solids, metals, dissolved gases and other contaminants in water.  Significant time was devoted for the methods of water treatment:  municipal or utility water treatment using prefiltration, clarification, disinfection and ph adjustment; and on-site treatment using filters, softeners, deionization, ultrafiltration etc.  Finally, not to be missed are the applications of high-purity water treatment systems, which range from basic human consumption of potable water, to medical and pharmaceutical use, to industrial applications in electronics, boiler use and manufacturing.
